Elaine H. Spracklen

Elaine H. Spracklen, 88, of Pekin, IL passed away at 8:00 PM Monday, June 13, 2016 at her home. Elaine was born December 26, 1927 in Kingsley, IA to Henry and Karla (Ide) Groenhagen. She married Wilmer Spracklen on April 14, 1945 Sioux City, IA. He passed away on August 18, 2001. Also preceding in death are her parents, one daughter, Margaret Ahten, one grandson, Bryan Spracklen and four sisters, Rose, Frieda, Caroline and Lilly. Surviving are: one son, James C. (Audrey) Spracklen of Pekin; three grandchildren, Elaine Ahten, Kenneth Ahten Jr. and Dr. Andrew (Dr. Cassandra) Spracklen; granddaughter-in-law, Allison Spracklen; three great grandchildren, Emma, Cloe and Rosalind Spracklen; two sisters, Joan (John) DeSutter of Manito, IL and Darlene Umholtz of Hanna City, IL; many nieces and nephews. Elaine owned and operated the Dining Car Restaurant in South Pekin for eight years retiring in 1989. She helped organize South Pekin Railroad Days and the South Pekin Business Association. She was a member of the 600 Club of the Pekin Women's Bowling Association and the Miller Melody Singers. She enjoyed painting and attending family events. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, June 17, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or Pekin Lions Club.
