Edward D. Prechel

Edward D. Prechel, 82 of Pekin, having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church, passed away at 3:08 pm, Thursday, October 17, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Peoria, IL to Edward and Irene (Fecker) Prechel on November 26, 1941. They preceded him in death. Ed married Judith Lowy at St. Monicas Church in East Peoria on June 18, 1966. They treasured their 58 wonderful years of marriage. Ed is survived by; his wife Judy; three sons, Edward (Nancy) Prechel of Indiana, Christopher (Lori) Prechel of Pekin, and Robert (Courtney Dressel) Prechel; and granddaughter, Victoria (Joe) Messenger, and their children, Collin and Elliot, and granddaughter Elizabeth Prechel, and her children, Aiden and Roman, and granddaughter Madison Prechel; one brother, Darrel (Norma) Prechel of Berwyn, IL and one sister, Darlene Waters of Peoria. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Ed worked for Caterpillar Tractor for 37 years, working as a tool and die maker retiring in September 2009. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was very active in Artistic Community Theatre, Moose Lodge-Pekin 916, Prison Ministry, Cursillo and TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) He was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 24, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 S. 7th St, Pekin with Father Michael Andrejek as Celebrant. A Rosary Service will be held at 9:30am at the church, followed by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Chalice Presentation. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am also at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Garden in Pekin with Military Honors Provided by the United States Navy and T.A.C.T., the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Memorials may be made to Peoria Cursillo or the Knights of Columbus.
