Edward E. Jennings, 87, of Morton, IL and formerly of West Peoria passed away at 5:30 PM Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Morton Terrace Care Center. Edward was born on June 8, 1928 in Pekin to Roscoe Arthur and Matilda Margaret (Reuling) Jennings. Edward met the love of his life, Mary Barnett, when he asked her for a waltz at a YWCA dance. They married on June 1, 1963 in Peoria. Preceding in death are his parents and one brother, Arthur Jennings. Surviving are: his wife, Mary of Morton; one sister, Jeanette Schlobohm of Pekin; one niece, Debra (Dale) McKenny of Pekin; two nephews, Kevin Schlobohm of Pekin and Melvin (Agnes) Schlobohm of Aurora, IL; one sister-in-law, Patricia Barnett of Peoria. Edward was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church in Peoria and the Tazewell County Farm Bureau. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army serving in Japan. After serving his country, Edward proudly returned to working the farm that has been in his family since the Civil War alongside his Uncle Fred, who helped raise him, and his brother, Arthur.Edward enjoyed spending time with his friends and family playing a spirited game of Euchre. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. Marks Catholic Church in Peoria with Father Geoffrey Horton officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM Saturday at the church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marks Catholic Church or charity of the donor's choice.
