Edward Forsythe

Edward W. Forsythe, 88, of North Pekin, passed away at 6:11 pm, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Pekin Manor. He was born January 9, 1929 in Penrod, KY to Raymond H. and Altha (Perry) Forsythe. He married Juanita Ingram, July 27, 1949 in Springfield, TN. She preceded him in death on June 14, 1990. Also preceding him in death are his parents; one baby daughter Patricia Ann; five brothers, Hayes, Willard, Walter, Perry, and John Thomas Forsythe; one sister, Christine Hood; and one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Forsythe. He is survived by; one son, Gary Forsythe of Lubbock, TX; one daughter, Vicki (John) Holmes of Pekin; one step-son, Logan Tyler of North Pekin; one step-daughter, Cassandra (Nathan) Link of East Peoria; one grandson, Troy (Nicole) Holmes of Pekin; four great grandchildren, Morgan (Tyler) Vicary, Luke, Savannah and VeronicaHolmes; five step-grandchildren, Kanye Tyler, Payton Tyler, Aliane Capati, Bradley Herring, and Janessa Herring; one brother, Earl Ray Forsythe of Atlanta GA; and three sisters, Olean Forsythe, Odene Forsythe, both of Foley, AL. and Dora Hoffmann, of Bowling Green, KY.; and special mention, Bessie (Tillman) Sample, Greg(Ann) Sample ,Danny Sample, and Deana(Alvin) Riley Edward worked for Caterpillar in the Research and Development Department at the Proving Grounds in Peoria. He retired in 1991 after 41 years. He was a faithful member of the Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 974. Edward was a very talented baseball player in his younger years, and always had a love for sports. He coached little league baseball and Biddy Basketball in North Pekin. He found great enjoyment in working crossword puzzles, and loved watching old westerns, baseball & football, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Bears. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, Pekin, IL with Rev. Alvin Riley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Edward's name to: Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 1505 Martin Street, Peoria, IL. 61605
