Edward A. Conway, 87, of Pekin, IL passed away at 4:55 AM Thursday, January 15, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.
Ed was born on October 20, 1938 in Avondale, MO to Adolf and Sophia (Suspenski) Conway. He married Nancy Kavisic on February 24, 1962 in Kansas City, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Michael Conway and John Conway; two brothers, Alfred Conway and Robert Conway; two sisters, Ann Walton and Mary Jane Lour.
Surviving are: his wife, Nancy of Pekin; four grandchildren, Anthony (Breanne) Conway, Joseph (Shelby) Conway, Sara (Conor) Coyle and Catherine Conway; six great grandchildren, Ava, Jada, Nora, Cameron, Lilah and Killian; one great great granddaughter, Leigha; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jo Conway.
Ed served honorably in the United States Army as a veteran. He pursued higher education, earning a Master's degree from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri—a respected private liberal arts institution known for its strong academic programs.
Professionally, Ed had a remarkable 48-year career at CPC International (a major company historically involved in food processing and corn products, later evolving through mergers), where he retired in 2003 as Plant Manager. This long tenure reflects dedication and leadership in industrial operations.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, indicating a deep commitment to his faith and community.
In his personal life, Ed was a true sports enthusiast, with particular love for track, football, basketball, and golf. Beyond team and individual sports, he was an avid target shooter, fisherman, and hunter—experiences that took him on safari hunts around the world, showcasing his adventurous spirit and appreciation for the outdoors.
Ed also found joy in more serene pursuits, such as floral gardening and rock collecting, balancing his high-energy hobbies with creative and contemplative ones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 20th at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
