Edna W. "Dean" Fox, 95, of Pekin passed away at 10:40 am Friday, April 05, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Donna Smith, surrounded by loving family. She was born on August 31,1928 in Booneville, Mississippi to Roy and LuNettie Ann (Johnson) Lovel. She married Walker V. Fox on May 7,1946 in Blytheville, Arkansas, they were married for 67 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one granddaughter, Peggy Peterson, two brothers, and two sisters. Dean is survived by two sons, Phillip (Pat) Fox of Pekin, Gary (Janet) Fox of Greencastle, IN; six daughters, Wanda (Frank) Sanders of Pekin, JoAnn (Dan) Beers of Pekin, Phyllis (Vern) Mura of Delavan, Pamela (Rick) Emerson of Pekin, Donna (Roger) Smith of Pekin, and Cathy (Mark) Alvey of Glasford; sixteen grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Dean was a dedicated and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She could often be found in the kitchen cooking up a delicious home cooked meal using her own garden tended vegetables. She had many meals cherished, and eaten often, by her family including, chicken and dumplings, fried potatoes, corn bread, and peach pop-up. Many have vivid memories of Walker serenading Dean with the song, "Hey, Hey Good Lookin Whatcha Got Cookin", while in the kitchen. Dean enjoyed the art of quilting and sewing alongside her mother, daughter, Wanda, and granddaughter, Marie. She made so many quilts that she was able to gift one to each of her loved ones. Camping and fishing with Walker, family, and friends was another favorite activity of hers, she went as far as Texas and stayed as close as Canton Lake. Dean never missed a birthday, holiday, graduation, or any special family occasion. She also loved having company over to have a meal, visit, and play games Yahtzee and dominos were two of her favorites. Her bright smile, bubbly laughter, and warm hugs will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday April 10, 2024 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, Pekin with Pastor Dan Larimore officiating. She will be buried next to her husband in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be held one hour before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
