Eaph "Ed" Edward Scaggs

Eaph Edward "Ed" Scaggs, 80 of Pekin, passed away at 4:50 am, Thursday, May 6, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Ed was born to John C. & Edith M. (Talley) Scaggs on June 21, 1940 in Vulcan, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rick Scaggs; five sisters; and two brothers. Ed is survived by; one daughter, Cindy (Phil) Jenkins of Pekin; four grandchildren, Brock (Kara) Jenkins, Haley Jenkins, Allison Scaggs and Madison Scaggs; one brother, Guy (Debi) Scaggs; four sisters, Louise Williams, Velma (Gary) Morris, Donna (Joe) Berner, and Brenda (Ron) Smith; one daughter-in-law, Heidi Scaggs of Petersburg; and one great-grandchild that will be arriving in September of 2021. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Ed was self-employed in the lumber business. He owned Sematar Lumber Co. and Scaggs Lumber Co. Ed enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bridge, and traveling over his lifetime. His greatest joy was becoming a grandfather, and the time spent with his grandchildren. A memorial service will be held beginning at 6:00 pm, Friday May 14, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin. Private family burial will be held at a later date in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana, IL with Rev. Jim McClarey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and VFW Post 6408 of Havana. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
