Douglas L. Woodley, 76, of Springfield, IL passed away at 4:34 AM Thursday, August 20, 2026 OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Doug was born on December 22, 1949 in Pekin, IL to Harold J. and Pauline (Long) Woodley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roger Woodley and great nephew, Jared Osborn.
Surviving are: his sister, Ridgie (Bob) Stone of Manito, IL; nieces and nephews, Robin (Lisa) Stone, Rodney Stone, RiDawn (Steve) Bandera, Shelly (Wylie) Coriell, Craig (Anne) Woodley, Joell (Wally) Snidanko and James (Marley) Woodley.
Doug was a graduate from Forman High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University. He entered active duty in the United States Army in 1972. After basic training, he was deployed to Germany where he served on a top-secret missile detail. After two years, he served another four years in the reserves. While in the Army, he received the National Defense Service Medal, good Conduct Medal and an expert M16. He retired from Illinois Plumbing and Heating in Springfield, IL.
Graveside services will be on 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Glendale Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Doug’s arrangements.
