Dorothy June Steinke

Dorothy J. Steinke, 90, of Pekin, IL passed away at 7:45 AM Friday, February 13, 2015 at her home. Dorothy was born June 1, 1924 in East St. Louis, IL to Joseph S. and Julia (Rocki) Lawson. She married Rex Steinke on June 7, 1947 in Pekin, IL. Preceding in death are her parents, one sister, Marie Hendricks, and two infant sisters. Surviving is: her husband, Rex of Pekin; three children, Patricia (Leigh Henson) Hartman of Springfield, MO, Robert (Krista) Steinke of Roswell, GA and Caryl D. Schlicher of Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, Jonathan D. Hartman, Morgan M. Hartman, Trevor L. (Janel) Steinke, Adriane D. (Woodrow) Ware, Dominique R. Steinke, Allison M. Schlicher and Amy L. Schlicher; one great granddaughter, Taryn L. Steinke. Dorothy graduated from Pekin High School in 1942. She had worked at Corn Products Company, Monroe Calculating Machine in Peoria and for the Tazewell County Treasurers, Charles Hough and Harry Condon. Dorothy's passion was her flower gardens and landscaping. There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be at a later date in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
