Dorothy "Lil" Smith

Dorothy (Lil) Lillian Smith, 80 of Pekin, passed away at 7:35 pm, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Pekin Manor. She was born January 11, 1937 to Archie and Hazel G. (Pace) Scarsdale in Lake City, AR. Lil was preceded in death by her parents and husband Virgil Leuthold. She is survived by one son, Mark (Elizabeth) Scott of Seattle, WA; two daughters, Donna Freeman of Pekin, IL and Patricia Moehle of Washington, IL; five grandchildren, Jenny (Cheryl Ferguson) Freeman of Chicago, IL, Adam (Trina) Freeman of Pekin, IL, Stephanie (Scott) Fitzgerald, Matt (Amy) Moehle and Jon (Erin) Moehle of Washington, IL and eleven great-grandchildren. She worked many years as a cake decorator at Mr. K's, retiring in April 1996. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and often helped in the nursery. She was a devoted grandmother who was deeply involved in her family, even helping to raise 2 of her great-grandchildren Taylar and Kyndal Freeman. In her free time she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and collecting beanie babies. Lil was a beautiful, witty, loving soul who will be missed immensely. A private Graveside service will be held with burial at the Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice of Illinois, 3000 N.
