Dorothy Catherine Mcmillan

Dorothy C. McMillan, 96, of 1005 Mary St. in Pekin passed away at 1:54 pm Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at her home. Dorothy was born March 6, 1912 in Pekin to Frederick R. and Emma C. (Michael) Henrichs. She married Ira H. McMillan on May 12, 1932 in Pekin. He died July 31, 1987. Also preceding in death are two sons, David and Dennis McMillan, one grandson, Michael McMillan and one brother, Irving Henrichs. Surviving are: one daughter, Donna Weichbrodt of Libertyville, IL; two sons, Howard K. (and Sharon) McMillan of Marquette Heights and James A. McMillan of Pekin; two daughters in law, Judy McMillan of Victor, NY and Jan McMillan of Deer Park, TX; seven grandchildren, Sue (and James) Sullivan, Dan Weichbrodt, Kevin (and Sue) McMillan, Kenneth (and Barbara) McMillan, Angeline (and Daryl) Brown, Damon (and Maggie) McMillan and Anita (and Dale) Dodson; eight great grandchildren; two close friends, Doris Proehl and Irene Vash, who assisted with her care. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. She had been a Sunday School Teacher, past president of the Corona Circle and a member of the Fidelis Class. She was a member and past board member of the YWCA, member of Home Extension Unit #3, past Den Mother of Pack #88 Cub Scouts. She also sang in the Pekin Choral Club. Dorothy graduated from Pekin High School in 1930. She served as a Red Cross nurse aid at Pekin Hospital for a number of years.
