Dorothy J. Boyer

Dorothy "Dot" Boyer of Morton, IL passed away Friday, June 23rd at the age of 86. She was born to John and Evelyn (Johnson) Bockwitz of San Jose, IL on January 7, 1937. She grew up with her younger brother, William (Bill and Karen) Bockwitz. After graduating high school, she married her life long love, Ezra (Ike) Boyer. Together they had five daughters, Debbie (Keith) Skinner, Denise (Charles) Hofer, Danette (Terry) Lowe, Lisa (John) Shiver, and Lori (David) Gama. She was the beloved grandmother to nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn Bockwitz, an infant sister, her husband Ike Boyer, her daughter, Debbie Boyer Skinner, and son-in-law, Keith Skinner. She was a lover of music. She played piano and sang from the time she was a young girl until her passing. She was an active member at Christ Followers Church, a member of Euterpeans in Mason City, a member of Mason County Home Extension, Mason County Homemakers and served with the Pekin Chapter of Aglow. She was an election judge for more than 30 years. In her later years she led a widows support group and continued to play piano and sing in her church. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family but we rest in the knowledge that she is with her Lord and Savior. Dots funeral service will be at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL with Pastors Lori & Mike Turner officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior also at the funeral home from 1:30 pm 2:30 pm. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.
