Doris J. Mcclary

Doris J. McClary, 61 of Pekin passed away at 7:43 pm, Monday, March 1, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Pekin, with her daughter Alina and son Steve by her side. She was born to Red & Mary (Holloway) Carroll in Pekin on May 8, 1959. Doris is survived by; her parents, one daughter, Alina (Josh) Knox of Pekin; three sons, Steven (Katie) Barnes of Pekin, Todd (Ajay Soni) Dunniway of Chicago, and Derrick (Jeremiah Har) Hayden of Rochester, IL; two granddaughters, Emily Barnes and Madison Kramer; two sisters, Patty (Damon) Helmig of Chapman, KS, and Melinda (Marc) McCulley of Pekin; and her best buddy, Mr. Willis, her English Bulldog. Doris was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed Disney World, Volkswagen Beetles, and bargain shopping. She often said "there is no better day than a day you find a bargain!" Doris instilled in her children the virtues of strength of mind and body, and clearance racks. She was always willing to give what she had and to do for others in need. She loved animals, volunteered with Taps, and rescued many dogs and cats. She learned the love of floral gardening from her father, she was gifted with talent and a green thumb. With all that being said, her greatest passion, and singular focus was her children and grandchildren. Her gift of selfless love will be forever missed. Her funeral service will be at noon Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Heather Robertson officiating. A visitation will be held one hour immediately prior to the funeral from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm also at the funeral home.
