Doris Marie Golden

Doris M. Golden, 79 of Pekin, passed away peacefully at 3:45 pm, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on October 11, 1941 in Pekin to Charles and Mildred (Mazzarelli) Aby. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Golden; and her grandson, Wesley Singleton. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (John) Calhoun of Pekin, and Barbara (Ken) Drake of The Colony Texas. She leaves behind her loving cat Anna. She was a member of the first graduating class from St. Joseph Catholic School. Doris worked for many years as a bookkeeper and supervisor for several companies including; Beard Motor Co., Paramount Printing, Peoria Tent & Awning and East Peoria Towing. As an avid NASCAR fan, she was looking forward to the start of the new season. Tony Stewart was her favorite driver. Doris loved animals. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, while always having her cat underfoot. She was a very good cook and candy maker, particularly her homemade turtles. She was known for being little and feisty, while still having a kind and generous heart. Doris was a loving mother and friend and will truly be missed. She will be honored in a family ceremony to be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin. Memorial donations may be made to T.A.P.S, 100 Taps Ln, Pekin, IL 61554.
