Donald Whiteman

Donald Whiteman, 73, of Pekin IL, passed away at 10:58 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Care. Don was born May 29, 1943, in Kansas to James & Mary (Arthur) Whiteman. He was married to Judy Trueblood-Hatcher. They had one daughter together. He later married Janet Haskett, she survives. Preceding in death are his parents, and brother, Frankie Ray Whiteman Surviving are his wife Janet, one daughter Darlene (Brad Colvin, fianc) Whiteman of East Peoria, two step-daughters, Janelle (Craig) Conway of Minier, Vicki (Brett) Caulkins of San Jose; three step grandchildren, Madeline, Cayla and Dylan Conway, one brother, James Michael Whiteman of Pekin and 2 nephews. Don was a veteran of the United State Air Force. He worked at Caterpillar retiring after 33 years. Don was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears and the Bulls. He was a skilled fisherman, often fishing in bass tournaments. He was also an avid pool player, and received several trophies and awards in tournaments. He once played in a tournament against Minnesota Fats. Most of all, Don treasured family, friends, and his dog Gracie. He loved taking Gracie to get ice cream, which they did often. Don was of the Christian faith, formerly attending First Assembly of God in Pekin. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Pastor Brent Farmer officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
