Donald Dean Schlottman

Donald Dean Schlottman, 91, of Pekin, passed away peacefully Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:40 PM at Reflections Memory Care in Pekin. He was born January 3, 1928 in Pekin to Henry and Mary (Joesting) Schlottman. He married Frances Louise Goetze on August 4, 1951 in Pekin. She survives. Don was preceded in death by; his parents; infant son, Daniel; three brothers, Carl, Henry, and Albert; and three sisters, Marie Hermes, Freida Chrismore, and Betty Brooks. He is survived by his wife Frances of 67 years; two sons, Douglas D. of Littleton, CO and David L. (Kim) Schlottman of Pekin; one daughter, Deanna M. (Kevin) Scott of Waukesha, WI; three grandchildren, Jason (Theresa) Earhart, Ellie (Andrew) Volz and Donald (Jen) Schlottman; seven great-grandchildren; Wesley Moffitt, Alicia Earhart, Lainey Volz, Hunter Dapper, Miley Volz, Daniel Schlottman and Zoey Schlottman. Don was a graduate of Pekin High School class of 1946. He served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. After receiving his degree from Bradley University he spent two years at Caterpillar Proving Grounds. In 1956 he joined the Air National Guard as Base Civil Engineer. He retired in 1983 obtaining the rank of Colonel. He then joined Coldwell Banker as an associate until 1995. He was a member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916, Life Member Empire Lodge #126 and golfing member of Sunset Hills Country Club for many years. Don's funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 11, 2019 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Pastor Heather Robertson officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday one hour prior beginning at 10 AM. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with Military Honors provided by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team and United States Air Force. The family would like to thank Reflections Memory Care personnel and Transitions Hospice nurses and staff for the excellent care that Don received. Memorials be made to TAPS or Alzheimer's Association.
