Donald 'Don' Lee Mannino, 79 of Pekin, passed away at 1:27 pm Thursday, February 6, 2020 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born to Vito and Mildred (Norris) Mannino on February 26, 1940 in Mulkeytown, IL. He married childhood sweetheart, Sue Abner on January 1, 1960 in Creve Coeur, IL. Don was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by; his wife of 60 years Sue,two sons, Kevin Mannino of East Peoria, and Anthony (Dawn) Mannino of Morton; one daughter, Debra Allen of Pekin; six grandchildren, Brooke and Nicole Mannino, Ashley and Brett Allen, Lane and Brock Mannino; five great grandchildren, Cooper Allen, Alivia Quinn, Bradyn, Abigail and Ava Clark; and one sister, Margie Lindal of Arkansas. Don served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1962. He worked on the assembly line at Caterpillar for 36 years retiring in 2001. He was a member UAW Local #974 and he enjoyed gardening, his time spent fishing with Kevin, and, walking and playing with his dogs. Don loved his 50+ years as his kids, then grandkids #1 fan in all things sports, especially baseball games. He so enjoyed making the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2017 with his son Anthony as his escort. The entire day was an amazing joy for him. Cremation has been accorded. There will be no services. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mulkytown Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Don's arrangements.
