Donald E. Lauterbach

Donald E. Lauterbach, 87, of 1540 El Camino Dr. Pekin, IL, died at 10:22 pm Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Pekin Hospital. Don was born on September 11, 1922 in Pekin to August and Edith (Hoffman) Lauterbach. He married Carol Brown on December 13, 1944 in Florida. Preceding in death are his parents, five brothers and five sisters. Surviving are: his wife, Carol of Pekin; one son, Larry Lauterbach of Peoria, IL; two daughters, Laurel (John) Koning of Battlement Mesa, CO and Linda (Bob) Pinkston of Valdosta, GA; six grandchildren, Roxanne Evans, Nicholas (Jessica) Hogue, Nichole Hogue, Natalie (Jarid) Singletary, Lisa Waszak and Lyndsey Waszak; four greatgrandchildren, Prestin Begeman, Caitlyn Hogue, Kirsten Evans and Hanah Evans. Don was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as a Navy Pilot. He worked in management at Caterpillar, Inc. for over 30 years. Don loved to play golf and had multiple whole in ones during his life. He also shot a score of 70 the year he turned 70. His other passion was his love of music.He tooted his trumpet with his DEL quartet, playing in numerous clubs over a 50 year span.
