Donald "Joe" Charland

Donald "Joe" Charland, 70, of Ft. Meyers, FL, formerly of Pekin, passed away, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his daughter's home in Westchester, IL. Joe was born December 28, 1945, in Pekin to Charles and Lillian (Sidell) Charland. He married Brenda Lucy on October 4, 1969 in Pekin. Preceding in death are his parents, brother, Tom Evans, and brother-in-law, Harold Heberer. Surviving are his wife Brenda; one son, Charles (Peggy) Charland of Marquette Heights; one daughter Mia (Steve) Bartels of Westchester, IL; 5 grandchildren, Haley & Emily Charland of Marquette Heights, Jake, Carson, & Claire Bartels of Westchester, IL; one brother, Charles (Sharon) Evans of Pekin; one sister, Pat Heberer of Lewiston and sister-in-law, Virginia Evans of Pekin. Joe worked at Caterpillar as a journeyman millwright retiring after 30 years' service.After his retirement, he was the owner and operator of Golf Car Sales & Service in Pekin. Joe's greatest loves were his grandchildren, time on the beach with Brenda, family, & friends, listening to music, and their long group rides on his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, Pekin, IL. There will be a Memorial Service immediately following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
