Dolores Bauernfeind

Dolores V. Bauernfeind, 89, of Pekin passed away at 12:21 PM Monday, September 5, 2016 at Hallmark House Nursing Center. Dolores was born on December 6, 1926 in Marshfield, WI to Alfred A. and Sabina (Stockheimer) Heintz. She married James R. Bauernfeind on January, 2, 1947 in Bakerville, WI. They were married for 62 years. He passed away on July 12, 2009. Also preceding in death are her parents, one brother, Lawrence Heintz, two sisters, Anita Sipes and Marie Wetzel. Surviving are: one son, Brian (Kathy) Bauernfeind of Pekin; two granddaughters, Dr. Jennifer (Dr. Ky) Newell of Lincoln, NE and Kara (Derek) Vestal of Bartonville, IL; three great grandchildren, Madison Vestal, Campbell Newell and Callaway Newell; one brother, Patrick Heintz of Marshfield, WI. Dolores was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, its Altar and Rosary Society and was ticket chairman of the St. Joseph Church fall bazaar for seven years. She volunteered at St. Joseph Catholic School cafeteria and school book sales for twenty years. She was a secretary for Jack Lowman Insurance in Pekin for twenty years, retiring in January 1987. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was proud of her German heritage. She loved cooking, working jigsaw puzzles and appreciated a good Bloody Mary. She enjoyed helping her friends and most of all spending time with her family. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Autumn Accolade, John Evans, Reflections Memory Care, Pekin Hospital and Hallmark House Nursing Center for the care and comfort they gave Dolores during her last years. A memorial mass will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Michael Andrejek officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the mass. She donated her body to medical science. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph School or the Pekin Union Mission.
