Dianne M. Rossi

Dianne Marie Rossi, 74 of Pekin, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria with family by her side. She was born November 21, 1943, to Italo Amerigo and Norma (Serangeli) Rossi, Sr. in Pekin. They preceded her in death along with her brother Italo Rossi, Jr., and a nephew, Steve 'Stevie' Mefford, Jr., who passed on May 1, 2015, three uncles, Lawrence Rossi, Al Rossi and Joe Serangeli and one aunt, Jeanne Rossi. She is survived by her beloved sister, Norma Jean (Steve) Mefford, Sr., Uncle Greg (Aunt Sharon) Serangeli, Aunt Lorayne Rossi, Aunt Maurine Serangeli and sister-in-law Leann Rossi. Also surviving are nephew and nieces Lucas (Robin) Mefford, Andrea (Adam) Stokes and Amy (late Steve, Jr.) Mefford. She was also a great aunt to: Nathan & Noah Mefford; Keelan, William & Nicholas Stokes; and McKenna, Sophie & Stella Mefford. She is also survived by many cousins. She graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1961 and from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Danville, IL, in 1964. Her nursing career began in St. Louis for five years before returning to Pekin in 1969. She spent many years in several hospitals and private practice offices in the Peoria-Pekin area. Later, she worked with her brother and sister-in-law in their catering business. Dianne will be remembered for her carrot cake, brownies and cookies. She never forgot an important date and will be remembered for her greeting cards that typically arrived early. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Miller Maids. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 7th at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday May 6, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, IL. Recitation of the rosary will be at 2:15 pm Sunday. Cremation will be accorded after the Mass. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pekin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Church for Masses in her memory or to the Hopedale Medical Foundation, Hopedale, IL.
