Debra L. Godke

Debra L. Godke, 70 of Pekin passed away at 9:20 am, Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born to Kenneth & Arlene (Lange) England on November 6, 1952, in Decatur, IL. She married Michael Sheehan on April 12, 1975, in Pekin. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2003. She married Douglas Godke on July 3, 2010, at St Joseph Church in Pekin, IL. He survives. Debra was preceded in death by; her parents, two sister-in-laws, Shirley England and Katherine Sheehan, and two brother-in-laws, Patrick Sheehan and Thomas Sheehan. She is survived by one son, Mark (Dang Kim Cuc) Sheehan of Germantown Hills, IL; one daughter, Lisa (Lloyd) Peterson of Springfield, IL; two step-sons, Stephen (Shawnie) Godke of Schaumberg, IL; and Ryan (Bill Hiland) Godke of Pekin, IL; two step-grandchildren, Savanah and Sullivan Godke; and three brothers, Gary England of Pekin, IL; Thomas (Lauri) England of Mapleton, IL; Robert (Kim) England of St. Simon Island, GA; and many loving relatives in her extended family. Debra was employed by CEFCU for 37 years, retiring in 2013 as Vice President of Human Resources and Wealth Management. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where she sang in both the Sunday and Resurrection Choirs and volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. She was certified as a Master Naturalist and loved being outdoors. She was a volunteer Adventure Bus driver at Wildlife Prairie Park. Debra was on the Foundation Board for the Childrens Home in Peoria. She served as treasurer of the Illinois Opera League. She was a member of the Peoria Ballet and Peoria Symphony Orchestra boards. She enjoyed dancing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching, and traveling. Debra was very involved in many activities and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her greatest treasure and love was her family and spending time with them. She was a wonderful mother and wife and will be greatly missed. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, May 27, 2023, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 303 S. 7th St, Pekin, IL, with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. A visitation will be held the night prior from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2023, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL, with Recitation of the Rosary on Friday immediately before at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
