Debra Ann Gardner, 68, of Pekin, passed away peacefully at 7:07 p.m. on July 8, 2025, at her home.

Born on March 13, 1957, in Pekin to Duane and Jeanine (Adcock) Smith Sr., Debbie lived a life filled with love and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sons, Jacob and Jeffrey Gardner; her brother-in-law, Craig Dalton Sr.; and her great-nephew, Dyson Bailey.


Debbie is survived by her son, Corey (Jennifer) Gardner of Pekin; her cherished grandchildren, Kyleigh, Lainey, and Hunter; her brother, Duane (Carole) Smith Jr. of Harvey, Louisiana; and her sisters, Darlene Antonio of Pekin and Denise Dalton of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.


For over 20 years, Debbie worked in the office at Trace Chemical, retiring in 2012. Born into a large family—her mother was one of 15 children—Debbie was surrounded by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom she loved dearly and cherished spending time with. An avid outdoorswoman, she found joy in mushroom hunting and fishing. Debbie was also a dedicated bowler, participating in a league for many years. Halloween was her favorite holiday, and she delighted in the fun and festivities of the season. Known for her kind and giving nature, Debbie touched countless lives with her compassion, always ready to help those in need. Above all, she held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, whom she adored.


A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be held at the Eagles Lodge, 274 Derby St., Pekin, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in Pekin on Saturday, July 19, 2025.


Cremation has been accorded.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Debbie’s name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure.
