Deborah K. Curtis, 64, of Bloomington, IL passed away at 8:44 AM Sunday, November 30, 2025 at her home.
Debbie was born on June 17, 1961 in Pekin, IL to Harless and Janice (Anderson) Copeland. She married Todd Curtis on August 16, 1986 in Canton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lyle Curtis.
Surviving are: her husband, Todd of Bloomington; one son, Zac Curtis of Phoenix, AZ; her parents, Harless and Janice Copeland of Pekin; one sister, Deanna Carr of Chapel Hill, NC; brother-in-law, Evan Curtis of Phoenix, AZ and sister-in-law, Alicia (Marsha Hausser) of Germantown Hills, IL; her fury companion, Zeus.
Debbie lived a rich and vibrant life, overflowing with purpose and joy. For 36 years, she poured her heart into her work at State Farm, earning the respect and affection of colleagues and clients alike. Beyond the office, she was a pillar of her community, passionately championing fair trade through Crossroads Fair Trade and fostering lifelong friendships and service through PEO Chapter JV.
Her passions lit up every season: she traced family stories through genealogy with the devotion of a detective, transformed her home into a wonderland of Christmas magic each December, and filled the air with the irresistible aroma of her legendary desserts. Musical theater was her heartbeat—she could quote entire soundtracks and never missed a chance to sing along—and she cherished adventures with her family, from road trips to far-flung destinations.
Debbie mentored with quiet wisdom and boundless generosity, always ready to lift someone up. And oh, could she shop—hunting down the most incredible bargains with the skill of a seasoned treasure hunter (but wasn’t cheap!).
In every role—colleague, friend, mentor, and especially family—she left behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and love that will live on in countless hearts.
She touched many lives through her work, volunteer leadership, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and joy (especially around the holidays) will surely live on in her family, friends, and community.
A visitation celebrating Debbie’s life will be from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Friday, December 5, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin, IL. A memorial service will be at 1:30 PM Saturday, December 6th at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Crossroads Fair Trade Goods & Gifts.
