David Paul Evans

David P. Evans, 76 of Pekin passed away at 3:56 pm, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at UnityPoint Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born to Paul V. and Norma (Deppert) Evans in Pekin, IL on May 1, 1944. He married Karen Dobrowolski on April 6, 1985 in Pekin. She passed away on May 14, 2018. Dave was also preceded by; his parents; and step-father, Warren Freidinger. He is survived by; one son, Zac (Jamie) Evans of Largo, FL; six grandchildren, Robyn, Aaron, Cody, Briar, Jace, and Jonah; two great-grandchidren, Handley Bonney and Mylei Evans; and one brother, Mark W. (Bette) Freidinger of Winston-Salem, NC; two sister in laws, Janet (Doug)Rains of San Diego, CA and Jeannie Knox of Pontoon Beach, IL; niece, Joanna (Christopher) Perry; four nephews, Dr. Brad (Molly) Freidinger, Brian Freidinger, Nathaniel Rains and Matthew Dobrowolski; great niece and nephews, Margie, Charlie, Will and Nathaniel. Dave graduated from Illinois State University where he was a member of the Kappa Lambda Chapter of the Blackfriar Fraternity. He taught at Pekin Community High School for 31 years retiring in 2000. He exceled at American Literature and teaching Speech. He was a Life Sponsor, Diamond Life Sponsor and Sponsor in Perpetuity of the Pekin and Garrison, MN chapters of Ducks Unlimited. Dave was an avid hunter and fisherman, a great story teller, a trivia buff and loved watching old Westerns. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family.
