David L. Branch

David Branch, 69, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Auburn Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Auburn, IL.He was born on December 20, 1948 to Letch and Wilma (Ambrose) Branch in Pekin, IL. David is survived by a niece, Kinsey Roehm, of Ellicot City, MD. David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dean. David graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1967.He worked as a Business Administrator for the State of Illinois.David was afflicted with cerebral palsy shortly after birth.He was an accomplished and determined individual, maintaining his independence up until the last couple years of his life.He spoke fondly of family memories at the cabin, hunting, and restoring jeeps; support he received from his good friends Ken and Jeanette Wells and Laura Welch; friends at Rochester Christian Church and the Hen House restaurant in Springfield; his Dodge Challenger with a 5.7 Liter V8 Hemi engine; and, friends at his last residence, Springfield Supportive Living.David was blessed by the care he received from staff at Auburn Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, and from Hospice.In spite of several significant health challenges, David had a very positive approach to life and a keen wit. Per his request, his body has been donated to the advancement of science.Final arrangements were handled by Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, Pekin, IL. David was a faithful member of Rochester Christian Church for many years.A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 29 at 5:30 P.M. at Rochester Christian Church, Rochester, IL with Pastor Brad Ferris officiating.Memorials may be made to Rochester Christian Church, 325 S.
