David August Blume

David August Blume, 88, of Pekin, IL passed away at 12:50 PM Sunday, November 1, 2026 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.

David was born on February 28, 1938 in Pekin, IL to James Thomas and Bertha Agnes (Kutz) Blume Sr. He married Kathleen Bush on May 19, 1979 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Thomas Blume Jr.

Surviving is his wife, Kathy of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 43 years retiring in February of 2000. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of the United States Parachute Association and Tazewell County Genealogical & Historical Society. He enjoyed sport parachuting, photography, Genealogy and was an avid walker. He loved animals especially cats.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 5, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Andrejek as Celebrant. Visitation will be form 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Thursday at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with David’s arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, St. Joseph’s Church Building Fund or Tazewell County Genealogical & Historical Society.
