Daniel Wichmann

Daniel Wichmann, 54, of Pekin, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by hisfamily and friends,at 2:25 PM Saturday, January 18, 2014 the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Dan was born on June 3, 1959 in Iowa City, IA to Larry and Kay (Fiser) Wichmann. Surviving are: his parents of Cedar Rapids, IA; one daughter, Dominique Watkins of Peoria, IL; two granddaughters, Ava and Zoey; one sister, Debbie (Gene) Stoyko of Castle Rock, CO; two brothers, Doug (Ellen) Wichmann of Louisville, KY and David (Anne) Wichmann of Minneapolis, MN ; eight nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; many dear friends especially Leslie Moussalli. Dan was a graduate of Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill, PA and studied at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was a dedicated employee spending his entire working career at Graphics Packaging. Dan was an avid collector of antiques and vintage motorcycles.He was an outdoor enthusiast with love for nature, wildlife, hiking, and fishing.He was an active member of Friends of McNaughton Park, applying his carpentry talents to build shelters, bridges, and other structures to preserve nature for all to enjoy. Dan was a wonderful son, loyal friend and brother, proud father, and loving Papa to his two beautiful granddaughters. Memorial services will be at 7:00 PM (Today) Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Visitation will be (Today) Sunday, Jan. 19 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of McNaughton Park or Operation S.A.F.E. in Dan's honor.
