D. Vance DeJaynes Jr.

D. Vance DeJaynes Jr., 68, of Pekin, IL passed away at 12:22 PM Monday, March 30, 2026 in Niles, Michigan.

Vance was born on July 28, 1957 in Pekin to Donald Vance and Barbara (Houghton) DeJaynes Sr.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Surviving are: two sons Brandon (Kacye) DeJaynes of Buchanan, Michigan and Bryan DeJaynes of Pekin; two grandchildren, Waylon and Margo; his mother, Barbara DeJaynes; one brother, Todd DeJaynes of Pekin; one sister, Lori Keefer of Normal.

Vance served in the United State Army. He was a devoted member of the Catholic faith and dedicated much of his life to both his profession and his community. He enjoyed a long and successful career with State Farm, where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 2019. Earlier in his career, he served the community through his work with the Pekin Chamber of Commerce and held management positions at Zales Jewelers and Jones Brothers Jewelers during the 1980s. During the summer months, Vance generously volunteered his time as a baseball coach, sharing his passion for the game with local youth.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. A visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Friday, April 3, 2026 also at the funeral home. Interment will take place in War Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Pekin with military honors provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Memorial contributions may be made in Vance’s honor to American Diabetes Association.
