Curtis "Babe" Mason

Curtis 'Babe' Mason, 76, of rural Peoria passed away at 7:45 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at his home. Babe was born January 1, 1935 in Glasford, IL to Thomas Maurice and Clara (Payne) Mason. He married Lois Mae Stranz on June 2, 1957. She died on September 11, 2011. Also preceding in death are his parents, two brothers, M. Frederick Mason and Russell Mason, one sister, Roberta Corrine Harper, two brothers in law, Dale Clark and Raymond 'Stub' Harper. Surviving are: one daughter and son in law, Mardee (Thomas Flaherty) Mason of Chicago, IL; two sisters in law, Marjorie Mason of Washington, IL and Missoula, MT and Constance Mason of Mapleton, IL; brother in law, Larry (Pat) Stranz of Bartonville, IL and sister in law, Loraine (Duane) Schleder of Pekin. Babe was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Kingston Mines United Methodist Church, American Legion Post#35, Lancaster Masonic Lodge #106 in Glasford, former member of Timber Landcaster Water Board and volunteer fireman for Timber Hollis Fire Department. Funeral services will be at 11:30 am Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Kingston Mines United Methodist Church. Rev. James Reed will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 11:15 am Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery with masonic services by his lodge.
