Constance M Smith

Constance M. 'Connie' Smith, 79, of Pekin went to be with her Lord at 9:19 PM Monday, January 11, 2016 at Amy's Country Manor. She passed peacefully and was surrounded by love. Connie was born on May 17, 1936 in California to Hommer and Ethel (Parr) Hendricks. She married Russell L. Smith on December 24, 1956 in Peoria, IL. Her parents precede her in death. Surviving are: her husband, Russell of Pekin; one son, Steve Smith of Pekin; one daughter, Vicki (William) Berchtold of Pekin; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one brother, Bert Hendricks of Texas; one sister, Mary (Don) Hodel of Washington, IL. Connie was a woman of the Lord and spent over 30 years as the secretary and librarian of Groveland Missionary Church. She was well regarded in the church community and is remembered for things such as: Always being on top of things', 'friendly and helpful in any way' and for having 'sparkling eyes and a great smile'. She loved to spend her time reading, knitting/sewing, camping and cooking. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Rev. Marv Claassen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Groveland Missionary Church or to the family to help with medical expenses.
