Connie "Cj" Gilroy

Manito-Connie J. 'CJ' Gilroy, 55, of Manito passed away at 9:10 pm Thursday, November 29, 2007, in her home surrounded by her family. CJ was born December 4, 1951, in Pekin to R. Thomas and Lila Woods Cranwill.She married Robert 'Butch' Gilroy July 17, 1971, in Peoria aboard the Julia Belle Swain Riverboat. He survives. Also surviving are; one daughter, Heidi (and Jeff) Gilbert, of Reelsville, Indiana; one sister, Sandy Lawson of Manito; one grandson, Dylan Gilbert; two nephews, Doug Lawson and Scott Wence; three nieces, Mattie Lawson who made her home with C J the past two years, Kim Wernsman and Stephanie Dumleo; one half brother, Mike Cranwill Denver CO; one half sister, Nancy Ashley of Ocala, FL; and Santanu Das, a child from India she sponsored since 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Pam Wence and one brother, Larry Cranwill. Connie owned and operated CJ's Printing in Manito for the past 27 years last working April 12, 2007. She was a charter member of the Manito Chamber of Commerce, a charter member of the Forman Junior Women's Club in Manito, chairman of Manito on the Move, chairman of the Manito Sesquicentennial Committee.She was a member of the Manito Historical Society, the Gems of the Prairie Quilting Guild of Peoria, and the Sew Happy Together Quilters of Manito.
