Colleen B. Hamra

Colleen B. Hamra, 81, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:18 PM Sunday, November 12, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. Colleen was born on April 20, 1936 in Peoria, IL to Harry and Vivian (Kahler) McCormick. She married Howard M. Hamra on March 1, 1979 in Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are: her husband, Howard of Pekin; three sons, David (Debra) Rockhold of Morton, IL, Dirk (Theresa) Rockhold of Davenport, IA and Darren Rockhold of Santa Rosa, CA; one step son, Howard Dean (Gloria) Hamra of Arlington Heights, IL; one step daughter, Renee (Lee) Long of Spring, TX; six grandchildren, Valerie (Aaron) Sharp of Pekin, Matthew (Erin) Rockhold of Peoria, Bryce Collin Rockhold of Davenport, IA, Dustin Bragg of Eldridge, IA, Andrew (Nikita) Janssen and Lydia Janssen both of Davenport, IA; two step grandchildren, Jared Long of Springfield, MO and Kinsey Hamra of Normal, IL; five great grandchildren, Samuel Sharp, Cash and Anabella Long, Elijah and Sebastian Janssen. Colleen was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin. She was employed by Pekin Public School District #108 for twenty-six years, serving as secretary at Sunset Hills School for six years and secretary to the Superintendent of School District #108 for twenty years. She was instrumental at organizing her PCHS class of 1954 reunions. Colleen and Howard loved to travel to destinations all over the world. She was a collector of glass eggs and glass shoes. Her family was the main focus of her life and loved hosting family events. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Rev. Hank Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, November 17th at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after the service with inurnment in Prairie Haven Cemetery at a later date.
