Clifford Goss

Clifford 'Bird Dog' Goss, 92 of Pekin passed away at 12:31 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Pekin Manor. Cliff was born April 28, 1923 to Edmond 'Pete' and Lucille (Rakestraw) Goss in Springlake.He married Marie Hoerr in 1941, she passed away in October 1963.In 1966 he married Celeste Kaufman, she passed away September 9, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Melvin, Bob, Kenny. Cliff is survived by one son, Harry (Susan) Goss of Pekin; two daughters, Judith Krupps of Pekin, and Rita Upchurch of Lewistown; one brother Larry (Diane) Goss of Pekin; six grandchildren, Jack(Kelley) Sandall, Dawn Upchurch, Jill (Brad) McKinley, Dianna (Douglas)Halstead, Richard L. Upchurch, Joey Lynn (Tommy) DeVore; nine great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and his black lab, Lilly. Cliff was proud to be a WWII veteran with the United States Army. He started Cliff Goss and Son Trucking in 1948, retiring in 2008 at the age of 85. Cliff loved being an outdoorsman, enjoying duck hunting, fishing and sharing that passion with his family. He also enjoyed being a truck driver and was a Nascar racing fan. Private graveside services will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors from United States Army and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. There will be no visitation. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff at Pekin Manor for their care for Cliff and the kindness they showed his family.
