Clara L. Zimmerman

Clara L. Zimmerman, 92, of Pekin, IL, passed away at 5:49 AM Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at UnityPoint Health Pekin. Clara was born January 24, 1926 in Groveland, IL to Fred and Sophie (Zessin) Kuntz. She married Stanley D. Zimmerman on August 4, 1946 at Groveland Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church. They were married for 70 wonderful years. He passed away August 21, 2016. Preceding in death are her parents, husband Stan, one daughter, Marlene Zimmerman, one grandson, Tommy Wightman and one brother in law, Ray Zaayenga. Surviving are: four sons, Ron (Lynn) Zimmerman of Tomahawk, WI, Bill (Robin) Zimmerman of Pekin, Rod (Adrienne) Zimmerman of Chicago, IL and Tim (Cindy) Zimmerman of Fairbanks, AK; one daughter, Malinda (Dennis) Wightman of Cincinnati, OH; thirteen grandchildren, Jeremy Zimmerman, Anthony (Cheryl) Wightman, Emily (Phil) VanCleave, Jim Wightman, Brandon (Brittney) Zimmerman, Breanna (Jerry) DeForest, Austin Zimmerman, Bridget Zimmerman, Drake Zimmerman, Paige Zimmerman, Billy Zimmerman Kathryn Zimmerman, and Sammy Zimmerman, eleven great grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Zaayenga of Pekin. Clara was a lifelong member of Groveland Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church. She graduated from Pekin High School and in later years worked in the cafeteria at the high school. She was a proficient gardener. She enjoyed and cheered on the St Louis Cardinals, Bradley Braves and Pekin High School Athletics.Clara was a homemaker, her greatest love was caring for her family. Her days were filled with the joys of her marriage to Stan, and attending the activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Zion Evangelical United Methodist, 3200 Cole Hollow Road, Pekin with Rev. Edward Newlan officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Zion Evangelical Cemetery.
