Cheryl A. Friedrich

Cheryl A. Friedrich, 57 of Green Valley, IL, passed away at 11:36 pm, July 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 30, 1959, in Pekin, to Ron and Marjorie Ann 'Brown' Fischer. She married David Friedrich at Sand Prairie Lutheran Church in Green Valley on November 19, 1978. She was preceded in death by her father, Ron Fischer, and her in-laws Glenn and Maggie Friedrich. She is survived by her husband David; mother Ann; four sons, Nicholas (Heather) Friedrich of Manito, Timothy (Jennifer) Friedrich of Shakopee, MN., Christopher Friedrich of Green Valley, and Gregory (Cherise) Friedrich of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Addison, Isabelle, Emery, Lennon, Capri, Leigha, Karter, and Rhett Friedrich; She was looking forward to her ninth grandson, who will be born this December; two brothers, Kenny (Bonnie) Fischer of Summerville. SC, and Kevin (Sandy) Fischer of Manito; one sister, Cathy (Larry) McCoy of Green Valley. Cheryl was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Green Valley. She held several duties and jobs in her life, but will be most remembered as the smiling ice cream lady at Flairty's Dairy Freeze in Green Valley. She was a member of the Midwest Central School Board for 20 years, where she served as secretary of the board and the voice of the community. She was also a member of the Forman Junior Women's Club, and the Tazewell County Home Extension. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. She was an accomplished floral gardener, and enjoyed country music immensely. Her Fridays consisted of being surrounded by her closest and dearest friends in the "Friday Night Club." Although her passion was country music, her favorite band was Good Luck Monkey, the band which was formed in her garage. Her funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church (Sand Prairie), 13443 Townline Rd, Green Valley, IL with burial in Sand Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm on Wednesday before the funeral. An additional visitation will be held Tuesday, August 1, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, IL. Memorials may be made to the Cheryl Friedrich Women in Agriculture Scholarship Fund. An account has been set up to receive memorials at Havana National Bank. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
