Charles H. 'Moose' Umholtz, 74, of Hanna City, IL passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at 9:43 AM Saturday, February 16, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL Chuck was born June 27, 1938 in Mapleton, IL to Clinton K. and Mary (Haynes) Umholtz. He married Darlene Groenhagen on September 6, 1958 in Tunica, MS. Preceding in death are his parents and three brothers, Jim, Bill and Tom Umholtz. Surviving is: his wife, Darlene of Hanna City, IL; two sons, Mark R. (Kathy) Umholtz of Mapleton,IL and Thomas H. (Lisa) Umholtz of Glasford, IL; one daughter, Karla (Dennis) Layne of Brimfield, IL; one grandson, Christopher Layne of Brimfield; one brother, John L. Umholtz of Pekin; four sisters, Nancy Jane Cape of St. David, IL, Anna Mae (Danny) David of Mapleton, IL, Jessie Isbell of Hanna City, IL and Mary Ellen Mallory of Edelstein, IL. Chuck became an ordained minister on September 21, 1975. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, NRA and a Life member of North American Hunting Club. He was the sexton for Cottonwood Cemetery for over 40 years. He loved hunting, fishing and mushrooming. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin with Rev. Bill Cordes officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday, Feb 19 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery near Hanna City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prairie State Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation 11517 W. Timber Road, Mapleton, IL.
