Charles M. "Chuck" Rock

Charles M. 'Chuck' Rock, 59, of Dunlap, IL departed this world for heaven on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home with his beloved family by his side.For 17 months, he bravely fought colon cancer and inspired all with his optimism and courage. Chuck was born on September 18, 1954 in Peoria, IL to Charles Myron and Doris (Miller) Rock. He married Diane Baker on July 18, 1992 in Peoria.Chuck and Diane's passionate commitment to one another was marked by 21 years of weekly date nights. Surviving are: his wife, Diane and two sons, Brian (16) and Jason Rock (14); his parents, Charles and Doris of Peoria; one brother, Jeff (Julie) Rock of Dunlap; nephews and niece, Ben, Adam and Rachel Rock. Chuck graduated from Richwoods High School in 1972; University of Illinois, Bachelor of Sciences in Finance, 1976; Washington University School of Law, Juris Doctorate, 1980. After several years of being a sole practitioner, Chuck with his brother Jeff and Eric Hasselberg, formed Hasselberg & Rock in 1991. At the time of his passing he was a partner in Hasselberg, Rock, Bell and Kuppler.He was selected as a 'Leading Lawyer' by his peers, an honor bestowed on less than 5% of Illinois attorneys. The roles of husband and father were the ones Chuck held most dear and he spent his time accordingly.It gave him great joy to coach his sons' Peoria Park District soccer teams. His role as Scout Master at Peoria Academy resulted in record participation in campouts, Pinewood Derbys and meetings.Chuck was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Peoria and was a teacher in the children's ministry.He enjoyed snow skiing, scuba diving and traveling. Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the new chapel at Northwoods Community Church. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, October 21, 2013 in the chapel at Northwood's Community Church with Rev. Calvin Rychener officiating. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin have been entrusted with Chuck's arrangements.
