Charles W. "Chuck" Riley, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:50 AM Saturday, July 10, 2021 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home. Chuck was born on June 30, 1937 in Pekin, IL to Charles J. and Mildred (Foster) Riley. He married Carol Duthoo on September 15, 1956 in Pekin. She passed away on August 15, 2015. Also preceding in death are his parents and one son, Michael Riley. Surviving are: two daughters, Kristi Riley of Pekin and Michelle Myers of Pekin; one grandson, Daniel (Brittney) Sargent of Peoria, IL; two great-grandchildren, Nikolas and Savannah Sargent; special niece, Melanie (Rick) Wallinger of Pekin and special great niece, Beth (Tony) Pullen of Pekin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Chuck was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1955 1963. He then worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Company for 44 years retiring as Quality Control General Foreman. He then worked as a funeral assistant at Henderson Funeral Home for 15 years with, as he would often say, the best boss ever, Marla Henderson. Chuck was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir for 46 years. He also served as chairman of the church pancake and sausage supper for many years. He enjoyed fishing with Kristi, camping and vacationing in Florida. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Chucks family will like to say a special Thank You to his care giver, Gina Abernathy, OSF Hospice, and OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home for the tender loving care given to Chuck. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at St. Paul United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM 7:00 Tuesday at the Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory and from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, 101 N. 8th Street Pekin, IL 61554.
