Charles D. Childs

Charles D. Childs, 86, of Pekin, IL passed away at 11:55 PM Monday, May 17, 2021 at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Care in Pekin. Charles was born on March 23, 1935 in Harco, IL to Ira and Roberta (Hetterscheidt) Childs. He married Peggy Meacham in 1952. She passed away in 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Childs; great-grandson, Maverick Ivey; one brother, Fred Childs; two sisters, Earlene Vance and Donna Rennau. Surviving are: one son, David Childs of East Peoria; one daughter, Vickie (Jerry) Schumm of Creve Coeur; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Childs of Bartonville and Ira (Ginny) Childs of Mountain Home, ID. He was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed dealing in antiques, fishing, softball and poker. A Memorial Service for Charles will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Henderson Funeral & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, Pekin. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will be in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
