Carol Rae Miller, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Pekin, Illinois, at the age of 88. Carol was born on November 27, 1935, in Evansville, Indiana, to Mildred Marie Miller and Raymond Chester Beal. Carol married Ralph Miller on January 14, 1953, in Peoria, Illinois, beginning an eternal partnership and a growing family that became the center of her life. In that same year, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she faithfully served others and dedicated herself to the gospel for more than 70 years. Carol worked for many years at Komatsu Dresser Industries in Peoria, where she formed lasting friendships within the foundry and took great pride in her work. She was also a talented seamstress who spent countless hours in her sewing room, often making clothing without a pattern. She loved sewing most with her grandchildren, creating special memories together. After Ralphs passing in 2004, Carol relocated to Layton, Utah, where she enjoyed life in the valley, forming new friendships and spending precious time with her family. Known for her homemade bread, Carol baked dozens of loaves at a time, filling her home with the aroma of fresh bread, a gift she often shared with family and friends. She also loved a good game of cards, especially a spirited round of Uno with her grandchildren. Carol is survived by her children: Ken Miller (Jennifer) of Peoria, IL; Paula Harper of Pekin, IL; Myron Miller (Micki) of Tooele, UT; Carolee Miller of Bountiful, UT; Ed Miller (Jessica) of Tooele, UT; Tom Miller (Gina) of Bentonville, AR; and Alvin Miller of Peoria, IL. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Court; her brother, Jerry Beal; her sister, Pat Walker; as well as 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; her son, Rodney; and two brothers, James and Jack Beal. Carol leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. Her love for her Savior and family touched the lives of many who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 12 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2104 S. 14th Street, Pekin, IL. A visitation will immediately precede services, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
