Carol Jean McCoy, 94, formerly of Glasford, passed away on April 21, 2025 at Charter Senior Living in Pekin, IL. Born May 22, 1930 to Oakley and Jessie (Zook) Fahnestock, she married Walter R. "Bob" McCoy on Dec. 18, 1949 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her son Tom McCoy of Des Moines, IA, her brother, Don Fahnestock, killed in World War II, her step-father, Dr. A. C. Wood of Farmington, IL, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Betty McCoy of Yates City, IL. Survivors include three children, Miriam (Bernie) Benson of Corfu, NY, Lyne (Jeff) Roth of Mapleton, and Hon. Richard (Cory) McCoy of Pekin; daughter-in-law Jody McCoy of Des Moines, IA; 11 grandchildren, Sam (Jenn) Olson, George (Stephanie) Olson, Madeline Olson, Isabel (Valdora Estridge) Olson, Dr. Katie (Dr. Doug) Kasper, Susan Roth, Mary (Matt) Sump, Patrick (Katie) McCoy, Maren McCoy, Ben McCoy, and Pete McCoy; and 14 great-grandchildren. Carol is also survived by one niece, Janet (Gary) Inskeep of Yates City, IL. Carol attended Bradley University where she majored in art, was a member of Pi Beta Phi social sorority, and met her husband. She was a member of the Glasford United Methodist Church. Carol's family would like to thank the staff at Charter Senior Living for their kindness and compassion during her seven years there. A private graveside service for family will be held, officiated by Pastor Judy Doyle. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery, Glasford, IL.
