Bruce I. Wieburg, 91, of Pekin died at 8:20 pm, Monday, July 27, 2009 at Pekin Hospital. He was born on October 18, 1917 in Pekin, to Theodore and Viola M. (Short) Wieburg.He married Virginia Weyrich on June 5, 1949.She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah (Rick) Antonini of Pekin, Barbara Quade of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Jill (Forrest) Murphy of St. Louis Mo, Brett (Courtney) Antonini of Pekin; two great grandchildren, Hudson and Liam Murphy of St. Louis; one brother, Paul Wieburg of Danville, IL. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Bruce was employed at Caterpillar for 38 years last working in the Planning Department.He played basketball for the Diesels for Caterpillar.He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Pacific for 44 months and was awarded four Battle Stars.He was a life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where he was past president of the Churchmen Brotherhood and also served on the church council. He was a past member of Pekin Country Club and Pekin Elks Club.He was an avid golfer and life long Cubs fan (he was pleased that he passed when the Cubs were in first place.)
