Bonnie Lee Seelye

Bonnie Lee Seelye, 92, of Pekin, IL passed away at 12:15 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora. Bonnie was born on September 27, 1930 in Waynesville, MO to Burley Austin and Minnie Vivian (Johnson) Dye. She married Clayton E. Seelye on November 27, 1952 in Pekin. He passed away on December 22, 2005. Also preceding in death are her parents. Surviving are: one daughter, Angela (Jeffrey) Arnold of Pekin and two grandsons, Joseph (Katelyn) Arnold of Washington, IL and Jacob Arnold of Pekin; and two great granddaughters, Grace and Harper Arnold; many nieces and nephews. Bonnie moved to Pekin with her mother in 1945 and graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1949. She graduated from St. Francis College of Nursing in 1952 and Bradley University in 1965. She formerly worked at Pekin Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and spent a majority of her career at Pekin Public Schools District 108 as a school nurse. Bonnie was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ for many years, most recently enjoying her friends from Senior Fellowship each month. She was also a member of American Association of University Woman, American Association of School Nurses, Delta Kappa Gamma, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association, SMART Money Investment Club, Church Woman United and Amaranth. She enjoyed traveling, playing Pitch and time with her family. After retirement, Bonnie enjoyed traveling with her special travel friends and took many exciting trips including Alaska, Costa Rica, Hawaii and Branson. In addition, she enjoyed swimming at the YWCA most days for over 20 years with the water aerobics group and developed many great friendships with the ladies of the pool. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Paul United Church of Christ with Pastor Heather Robertson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery. The family requests no flowers/plants. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or TAPS.
