Betty Harbur Wubben

Betty Lou Harbur Wubben, 78, of Peoria, passed away at 8:45 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at her residence. Betty was born on June 3, 1933 to Roy W. and Edith L. (Shaw) Lockwood in Peoria, IL. She married Donald M. Harbur on October 22, 1949 in Jefferson City, IN.He died on April 26, 1971 in Peoria, IL.She later married Kenneth E. Wubben in Peoria, IL on August 31, 1974. Betty is survived by her husband Kenneth; children, Sue Ann Kaufman, Patricia Lynn (Randy) Gleich, Katherine L. (Michael) DeTrempe, Wendy Lee (John) Peavy, David E. Wubben, Denise E. Adams and Deborah K. (Mike) Joseph; her sister, Jeanne Ann (Daniel) Scoles; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins and her beloved dog 'Shadow.' Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, daughter Anita Marie Harbur Ellis, grandson Eric Ellis and great-granddaughter Angel Peavy. She was a member of WMBD's Juvenile Theater, Peoria Players and the American Business Womens Association.Betty volunteered at Child and Family Services Plays for Living and Wildlife Prairie Park where she was the 'train engineer.'Betty also participated in Relay for Life, was a long-time member of Memorial Christian Church where she was involved in the personal card ministry and a member of the prayer chain. Betty worked at CILCO in the Employee's Benefit Office for 21 years, retiring in 1988. Ken and Betty spent 11 summers in Minnesota after retirement, building beautiful family memories until her health began to fail. Betty loved the Lord all her life, loved her wonderful husband Kenneth and loved her family.She especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as reading. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Memorial Christian Church in Peoria.Rev. Dr. Arvil Bass and Assistant Pastor Mike DeTrempe will officiate.Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, August 1, 2011 and from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Memorial Christian Church.Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria, IL. Memorials may be directed to Memorial Christian Church, located at 2507 W. Newman Parkway in Peoria, IL.
