Betty Williams

Betty Jane Williams, 91 of Pekin, passed away at 1:20 pm Friday, April 12, 2013 at Pekin Manor. She was born October 29, 1921 in Peoria to Carl F. and Lela A. (Bowersock) Krakel. She married Glen Williams in 1942. She was preceded by her parents, her husband, daughter, Sandra and one brother Eugene. She is survived by one brother, Carl Krakel Jr. and many nieces and nephews. Betty was blessed with her daughter Sandra while she was living in California during WWII when her husband was stationed at Camp Pendleton. While living in California to assist the war effort, she worked at Goodyear Tire Company making bullet resistant gas tanks for fighter airplanes.After the war Betty and Glen moved to Pekin and made it their home.Betty also worked at the Pekin High School Cafeteria. She attended Manual Training High School and graduated in 1941. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pekin. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Henderson Funeral Home and Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with visitation 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Anderson will officiate.Burial will be in Pottstown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Pekin or TAPS.
