Betty M. Williams

Betty M. Williams, 94 of Pekin passed away at 9:54 PM, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Pekin Manor. She was born on February 12, 1923 to Thomas and Bertha (Heisel) Miller in Pekin. She married Harold T. Williams in Pekin on November 10, 1951. He passed away on December 15, 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents; and one brother, Kenneth R. Miller. Betty is survived by one daughter, Diane L. Williams of Denver, CO. She was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin. Betty graduated in 1941 from Pekin Community High School. Her work career began during high school, working as a proof reader at the Pekin Daily Times. She worked for Dooley and then Carney Insurance from 1955 until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed all animals, and it was common for her to take in any stray cats, dogs, birds, and injured rabbits to be nursed back to health. Betty enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and spending time outdoors. Graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery at 1:00 pm Monday, March 13, 2017 with Pastor Jeff Leeman officiating.
