Betty M. Henning

Betty M. Henning, 93 of Pekin, passed away at 7:27 am, Saturday, October 8, 2022 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. She was born in Elgin, IL to William and Margaret (Malzow) Lamz on February 4, 1929. Betty married Arnold R. Henning on July 23, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elgin, IL. He preceded her in death August 13, 2008. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Rick Nickles. She is survived by one son, Gregory (Julie) Henning of Huntley, IL, one daughter, Susan Nickles of Pekin, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked as an office manager in the auto dealer industry for over 40 years, retiring in 1992 from Ron Hopkins Ford in Elgin. She and her husband Arnie loved to travel and were avid bowlers. Blessed with a long life, she shared that blessing with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her greatest treasure. Betty truly blessed all of our lives with her abundant love for which we are eternally grateful. We will forever carry her love in our hearts. Betty also touched the hearts of many residents and staff at Lutheran Hillside Village where she resided the last five years. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff on Lavender Lane and skilled nursing administration for their wonderful care and support of Betty over the years. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL with Pastor Mark Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Inurnment will be at River Valley Memorial Gardens, Elgin, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church.
