Betty Boehm of Pekin, Illinois passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025 in Madison, New Jersey. She loved and was loved by her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is now in the hands of God but will be loved in memory here on earth. Betty was born August 13, 1932 in Robinson, Illinois to Morris and Ruth (Shaw) Beabout. She spent her childhood in Vandalia, Illinois and graduated from Vandalia High School in 1950. She attended Monmouth College majoring in speech and English. She edited the college yearbook, was a member of Mortar Board and served as the president of her sorority, Kappa Delta. Following graduation from Monmouth, she married Ronald Boehm at St. James Church in Vandalia on June 20, 1954. She taught high school speech and English. After she and Ron moved to Pekin in 1960, she joined school district 108 where she taught for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald and brothers Robert and Jerry. She is survived by a daughter Kimberly Falone and her husband Vince of Chatham, New Jersey; and her son Tim Boehm and his wife Maura of Annapolis, Maryland. Her grandchildren are Mary (Boehm) Taneyhill and her husband Chris of Severna Park, Maryland; Sarah (Boehm) Hammett and her husband Adam of Prince Fredrick, Maryland; Grace (Falone) Yurosko and her husband Ryan of Tampa, Florida; Sam Falone of Tampa, Florida and Cassandra Falone of Fairfax, Vermont. She has four great grandchildren: Andrew (6) and Claire (3) Taneyhill, Harper Hammett (1) and Nico Yurosko (3 wks). Her brother is Bill Beabout of Reeds Spring, Missouri and his wife Cheryl. Her sister-in-law is Joyce Beabout of Aurora, Colorado. Bettys involvement in community activities included public television, the Dirksen Center Docents, the YWCA Board, Tazewell County Retired Teachers, Altrusa Club, Church Women United, and she served as president of the local chapter of American Association of University Women and her LM Chapter of PEO. In 1984, she was recognized by the YWCA for outstanding achievement in the professions. Her greatest interest was St. Paul United Church of Christ. She taught Sunday School and served as the church librarian. She was president of the Church Council. She was also involved in the wider church serving as a moderator of the Western Association and attending national conventions. Betty and Ron loved their involvement with young people, traveling, entertaining, following the successes of grandchildren and maintaining their interest in Monmouth College. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15 in Pekin at St. Paul United Church of Christ. Visitation will be at 9 am. The service at 10 am. In her memory, donations can be made to the church.
