Barbara J. Swibold

Barbara J. (Adams) (Doubet) Swibold, 86, of Pekin, IL passed away peacefully at 9:00 PM on Monday, January 31, 2022. She was born on December 30, 1935 in Pekin, IL to William Adams and Dorothy Oltman. She graduated from Pekin High School in 1953. Barb and her husband Jack owned the Karmelkorn Shoppe in the Pekin Mall and then later she served as administrator of the Miller Senior Citizens Center in Pekin. She met the love of her life, Jack S. Swibold, in Pekin and were married on October 2, 1955. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage until Jacks passing in May 2018. They enjoyed entertaining friends at their home, visiting out of town friends and traveling, especially their trip to the Holy Land with their church friends. Barb is survived by her son, Gregg (Sue) Swibold of Pekin, her daughter-in-law, Becky Swibold of Fairview; four grandchildren, Amy (Ron) Kieser of Normal, Chad (Sarah) Swibold of North Pekin, Codi (Justin Montgomery) Swibold of Canton, and Cole (Rayvan) Swibold of Fairview; three great grandchildren, Benjamin and Ava Kieser of Normal and Lucas Gosch of North Pekin; and one brother, Richard (Pat) Doubet of Carthage, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her son, Garry. Barb was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 53 years, Pekin Womens Club serving as president and secretary, Altrusa Club of Pekin serving as president and vice president, and Kiwanis Club of Pekin serving as president, vice president, and assistant recording secretary. She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church in Pekin and served as an elder, deacon, church treasurer, and member of the Christian Womens Fellowship ministry. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Foglio officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 1201 Chestnut St., Pekin, IL 61554. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Villas of Holly Brook for their kindness and care to Barb over the last three years.
